- Sector: Residential
- Client: Croydon Council
- Architect: Capita Architecture / MHK Fairbairn
- Contractor: Geoffrey Osborne
- Contract Value: £26 million
- Project Overview: The project consisted of the phased construction of 4 new care home buildings, three were specialist care homes and the fourth was an extra care facility. Two of the homes have also incorporated day centres.
- Added Value: We assisted Geoffrey Osborne in the initial scheme designs whilst they were tendering for the project. This allowed the architect a free licence to come up with ideas, which were then given to us to comment on in terms of Building Regulation compliance. Compliance risk was removed due to our early involvement and proactive consultation with the fire authority.
- Additional Comments: Two architects each designed two buildings and with the contractors, these have been developed and built two at a time, allowing the same design and construction teams to be employed allowing lessons learnt during phase 1 to be incorporated into the second phase of construction.
