Butler & Young brings its extensive experience of compliance in both the public and private sectors to the Healthcare Sector.
Services are focused on built environment compliance criteria associated with Care Quality Commission registration and are delivered with the same high capability, reliability, understanding and consistency of our other services.
Customers include procurers, developers, designers, contractors and operators across the healthcare sector including:

Services are delivered by reviewing plans and technical specifications, inspections of existing buildings and those under construction and reviewing technical data, policies and procedures.
The main purpose is to assist Healthcare providers in meeting their full legal obligations in line with their registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in meeting Outcome 10, Regulations 15 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2008.
Specifically the aim is to:
- Ensure that patients, as far as is practically possible, are/will be treated in safe risk-free surroundings appropriate to their needs.
- Ensure that staff, as far as practically possible, can undertake their duties in a safe risk-free environment.
- Ensure that any residual risks to patients, visitors and staff, that cannot be removed, are properly and safely managed.
- Ensure that the premises comply/will comply with all the statutory requirements in respect of the built environment.
- Verify that there is/will be satisfactory provision of space relevant to the service and activities proposed.
- Ensure that individual designated spaces’ size layout and adjacencies meet the needs of activities to be undertaken within them.
- Ensure that premises are/will be constructed to a satisfactory standard appropriate to their use.
- Ensure that satisfactory environmental conditions which assist in infection control, and provide reasonable comfort to patients, visitors and staff prevail/will prevail within the premises appropriate to their use and the treatment and/or care provided within them.
- Ensure that all building engineering systems are satisfactorily installed, tested and commissioned.
- Ensure that adequate facilities are available in relation to staff welfare.
- Ensure that adequate fire detection, protection; suppression and means of escape exist/will exist.
- Ensure that essential services are/will be maintained for an adequate period in the event of an emergency.
- Ensure appropriate finishes, fixtures and fittings are/will be installed.
- Ensure that premises, plant and equipment (excluding medial devices) are/will be adequately operated and maintained.
